Unit artifact
Test tubes containing "blood" with antigens and Rh factor
|
This artifact is a test tube which is used in labs for different experiments and procedures. This is from the genetic unit, as a part of the murder lab. The test tube was used to test different antigens and Rh factor in the blood samples to determine who was responsible for the murder by matching the blood from the shower door with one of the suspects. This is significant to me as we got to work like real scientists to solve a murder which was fun and educational. What I learned from this activity is the importance of the DNA samples collected at a crime scene as well as how to properly test different antigens and Rh factor in blood and record observations. This could very well be applied in the real world as similar procedure is done to find matches between victims, murderer and murder weapons, this helps solve cases which helps bring justice to the victim and it’s family. This artifact can help understand the genetic unit better as we are able to see the antibodies react to different antigens and a Rh factor in several different blood samples to further our understanding and knowledge of this concept.
