unit artifact
This artifact is a leaf which is found anywhere in nature from trees to tiny flowers. It is from the biodiversity unit, as a part of the leaf lab. This leaf has significance of this to me as it helps me understand the connected between us humans and other living things as well as the realization that something as simple as a leaf has just as many and complicated systems as humans do. What I learned from the activity is the different parts of a leaf such as the midrib, large veins and how to measure these accurately. Being able to see their veins and how they have different ones helps realize how important the systems are and that they need the same things as we do. They are need nutrients to survive and grow and have their own process to get food known as photosynthesis. This artifact can't really be applied to the real world as anyone can stay home and measure leaf veins however it can help as think more about saving earth and protecting nature.
