Goals & Accomplishments
- Wanted to help patients with leukemia
- Worked with Till to create a clonal method that helps identity stem cells, with previous knowledge and experience in hematology and biophysics
- Did many experiments on irradiated mice injecting bone marrow cells which they discovered each nodules which were (spleen colonies) appeared from a bone marrow cell which could be a stem cell
- Discovered concept on stem cells and stem cell frame work which allows us today to understand stem cells are the master cells of the body as they have the ability to regenerate
- After the breakthrough, stem cells started being used to cure leukemia, multiple myeloma which is form of cancer and recently some autoimmune disorders like stiff person syndrome
- His work helped worldwide with revolutionary therapy and survival of leukemia patients
- Also promising that stem cell therapy will be able to cure blindness, diabetes and spinal-cord injury

- Discovered first major dinosaur in Canada
- Discovery was an accident as original goal was to search for coal deposits
- Close relative to the T-rex, meat eating dinosaur
- Later named Albertosaurus sarcophagus, first of its genus ever discovered in the world
- Helped show the evolution between the dinosaurs
- Discovered rish dinosaur beds in alberta which consists of many fossils
- His discovery resulted in attention from paleontologists worldwide which brought more contributions to dinosaur evolution
- Many more discoveries were made in the area by other pathologists and geologists
- The area of the discovery resulted in becoming a successful mining center
